Despite many models proposed to explain charging behavior between insulating particles, the mechanisms underlying triboelectric charging have remained an open question in nonequilibrium physics. This manuscript presents a new experimental method to measure charge transfer during collisions between individual pairs of levitated particles, showing that charge evolution saturates as predicted by the condenser model.
