Electric field controlled nonlinear anomalous Nernst effect in two-dimensional time-reversal symmetric systems

Ying-Li Wu and Xiao-Qin Yu

Phys. Rev. B 114, 245425 (2026) - Published 30 October, 2026

Here, the authors demonstrate that an applied direct electric field lifts the symmetry constraint on the nonlinear anomalous Nernst effect, enabling this effect in time-reversal symmetric 2D systems with crystallographic symmetries beyond a single mirror symmetry. They propose an alternating temperature gradient, rather than a steady one, as a driving force, allowing experimental detection via second-harmonic measurements. This finding broadens the material platform for quantum-geometry-induced transverse thermoelectric effects and provides an alternative route for thermoelectric energy harvesting.

Phys. Rev. B 114, 194430 (2026) - Published 29 October, 2026

Here, the authors reveal how curvature reshapes spin-wave dynamics and magnetic instabilities in synthetic antiferromagnetic nanotubes. The tubular geometry produces asymmetric mode localization and nonreciprocal propagation, while radial anisotropy drives a crossover from uniform softening to a finite-wave-vector instability. The latter signals the emergence of a stripe-like magnetic modulation along the nanotube axis.
