Spectral properties and zero-energy degeneracy provide a way to characterize thermalization in nonintegrable quantum many-body systems. This work studies a bond-staggered Heisenberg chain with spectral reflection symmetry and continuous non-Abelian SU(2) symmetry, using character theory to count exponentially many zero-energy states and constructing exact low-entangled few-magnon eigenstates that are stable under many perturbations.

Gapless edge gravitons and quasiparticles in fractional quantum Hall systems with nonlocal confinement

Daniel Spasic-Mlacak and Nigel R. Cooper

Phys. Rev. Research 8, L022063 (2026) - Published 29 June, 2026

Motivated by polaritonic platforms, this work investigates how nonlocal confinement affects the edge physics of fractional quantum Hall systems. It is found that the conventional edge modes are lost, to be replaced by new modes arising from bulk excitations—such as the graviton and quasielectron—that become gapless at the boundary.

Routing entanglement through quantum networks

Karl Pelka, Matteo Aquilina, and André Xuereb

Phys. Rev. Research 8, L022062 (2026) - Published 29 June, 2026

Entanglement transport in nonreciprocal continuous-variable quantum networks is investigated, showing that directional coupling enables controlled routing of quantum correlations between nodes. The work identifies a regime in which entanglement is efficiently transmitted and quantifies how excess excitations induced by strong squeezing ultimately limit the mechanism studied.

Dual-resonant biphoton generation in 3R-MoS2 van der Waals membrane metasurfaces

Alexei V. Prokhorov, Mikhail Yu. Gubin, Alexander V. Shesterikov, Aleksey V. Arsenin, Valentyn S. Volkov, and Andrey B. Evlyukhin

Phys. Rev. Research 8, L022061 (2026) - Published 29 June, 2026

A double-membrane 3R-MoS2 metasurface composed of two distinct hole arrays and supporting high-order multipole resonances is investigated for the generation of biphoton pairs through spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC). The combined effect of the second-order nonlinear response of 3R-MoS2 and dual-resonant excitation of the metasurface leads to an increased SPDC photon generation rate relative to an unpatterned flake.

Hydrodynamic attraction and hindered diffusion govern first-passage times of swimming microorganisms

Yanis Baouche, Magali Le Goff, Thomas Franosch, and Christina Kurzthaler

Phys. Rev. Research 8, L022060 (2026) - Published 29 June, 2026

Numerical simulations of force-dipole microswimmers near a no-slip wall reveal how hydrodynamic interactions and diffusion shape first-passage-time statistics. The results show that wall-induced hindered diffusion can strongly delay wall encounters, while active hydrodynamic attraction produces distinct behaviors for pushers and pullers, including a nonmonotonic dependence on dipole strength.
