Abstract
The fuzzy-sphere regularization is a powerful tool to study conformal field theories (CFT) in three spacetime dimensions. In this paper, we extend its scope to CFTs with local fermionic operators. We realize the free-Majorana-fermion CFT on a setup with one flavor of bosons and one flavor of fermions on the lowest Landau level with a angular momentum mismatch and allow conversion between two bosons and two fermions, and use a relative chemical potential as the tuning parameter. On the phase diagram, we observe two continuous transitions described, respectively, by a free Majorana fermion and a gauged Ising CFT. We numerically confirm the emergent conformal symmetry through the operator spectrum and the two-point correlation function of the local Majorana fermion. We further establish a correspondence between the fuzzy-sphere models and the field-theory Lagrangians, and extend it to an interacting fermionic CFT—the super-Ising theory with emergent superconformal symmetry.

Popular Summary
Conformal field theory provides a vital framework for predicting critical phenomena in phase transitions, yet their solution in three dimensions remains a formidable challenge. We extend the fuzzy-sphere regularization—a method for studying conformal field theories involving quantum systems on a sphere with noncommuting coordinates—to theories containing local fermionic operators. On a setup with boson-fermion mixture, we realize a free Majorana fermion and a gauged Ising field theory. We numerically verify the emergent conformal symmetry by extracting the operator spectra and correlation functions. Furthermore, we establish a mapping between these fuzzy-sphere models and quantum-field-theory Lagrangians, ultimately simulating the super-Ising theory with emergent supersymmetry. These results demonstrate that the fuzzy sphere is a powerful and versatile platform for exploring interacting fermionic matter and quantum field theories.

In the continuum limit (i.e., the monopole flux ) of the fuzzy-sphere model, any (bare) local operator, as well as its correlators, remain nondiverging. Moreover, the microscopic couplings at the critical point also remain finite, i.e., they converge to finite values in the continuum limit.
On the sphere, the microscopic particles form a spin- representation of SO(3); as its spin is size dependent, it cannot flow to a local field in the CFT in the IR. On the other hand, on the flat space, the microscopic fermions transform in a projective representation of the continuous translation group, which is incompatible with any local operator of a CFT.
A recent work [47] also studied a boson-fermion mixture fuzzy-sphere model that realizes the confinement transition of bosonic Laughlin state. Its setup involves two flavors of charge-1 microscopic fermions and a flavor of charge-2 microscopic bosons. Hence, the charge-0 CFT operators are still bosonic.
In a 3D Euclidean signature, the matrices are identical to the Pauli matrices. We use to avoid overloading the symbol .
Unitarity and conformal symmetry imply that any local operator of spin- with is a free fermion, so this scaling dimension also gives a clear criterion to identify the free-fermion CFT.

An alternative choice without a flux mismatch is to let the bosons carry the two component spinor spherical harmonics [80] with spin-weight instead of the scalar spherical harmonics with spin-weight . These two choices assert the same spatial profile and differ only by a local basis transformation of the spinors. The equivalence shows that the physical interpretation of the flux mismatch is the coupling of an additional spin- degree of freedom.
