Phys. Rev. Research 7, L022034 (2025) - Published 9 May, 2025

A protocol for quantum metrology with the construction of higher-order exceptional points (HOEPs) is proposed and analyzed in the atom-cavity system through Hermitian magnon-photon interactions. The study unveils the mechanism and the physical origin behind the quantum enhancement from this type of HOEPs.

Two-dimensional topological Anderson insulator in a HgTe-based semimetal

Phys. Rev. Research 7, L022033 (2025) - Published 9 May, 2025

A semimetallic 2D electron system is shown to be able to transform into an Anderson topological insulator under strong disorder. The disorder induces a mobility gap in the bulk, while leaving the 1D edge states topologically protected.

Phys. Rev. Research 7, L022032 (2025) - Published 7 May, 2025

A universal short-time rapid growth of von Neumann entropy is found in systems with quasiparticles under a Markovian dissipative environment. This behavior is verified in noninteracting fermionic open systems and dissipative Luttinger liquid.

Phys. Rev. Research 7, L022031 (2025) - Published 7 May, 2025

A method is introduced to measure the total phase fluctuations and their correlations in low-dimensional quantum Bose gases by inverting a continuity equation. The scheme is validated through theoretical analysis, numerical simulations, and experimental demonstrations using a 1D quantum field simulator.

Aharonov-Bohm interferometer in inverted-band pn junctions

Yuhao Zhao, Oded Zilberberg, and Antonio Štrkalj

Phys. Rev. Research 7, L022030 (2025) - Published 7 May, 2025

A novel Aharonov-Bohm interferometer based on negative refraction in a 2D inverted-band pn junction is presented. The electron trajectories are confined not by external structures but by the intrinsic sombrero-shaped band structure, enabling robust quantum interference observable under realistic experimental conditions.
