A scheme is proposed to mediate Rydberg-Rydberg interactions over a range larger than the typical blockade radius using a molecular state formed by a Rydberg atom and an ion (RAIM) by coupling the motional modes of the trapped ion crystal to the vibrational mode of the RAIM. The effects of the Paul trap’s rf potential on the RAIM is studied using a detailed Floquet analysis along with scaling laws informed by Landau-Zener-Stuckleberg interferometry.

Through a local (and simple) manipulation of a many-body system, this work shows that it is possible to store and trap genuine quantum information and energy in its collective localized edge modes. The characterization of the information stored shows that quantum correlations are enhanced in the nonequilibrium regime of manipulation. Hence, the work presents the minimal elements one must search for to produce the same effects in different setups.
