This paper presents a scaling theory for the access resistance, a quantity describing the ability of current carriers to converge to an opening. The authors find a particular aspect ratio for the dimensions of a simulation cell that eliminates finite-size effects, which usually make this quantity hard to determine numerically. This opens the door to further progress in molecular dynamics simulations of micro- and nanofluidics as well as charge transport in membranes and nanopores.
