Rydberg microwave electrometry has attracted great attention, due to its potential application in radar and communication, but simultaneously achieving high sensitivity and broad instantaneous bandwidth remains a challenge. This study demonstrates an enhanced instantaneous bandwidth of ±10.2 MHz with sensitivity of 62 nV cm−1 Hz−1/2 by the amplification of one sideband wave in the six-wave-mixing process of a Rydberg superheterodyne receiver.

Broadband, high-frequency squeezed light sources offer vast scaling potential in quantum information. However, broadband and efficient homodyne detectors must first be found, to efficiently utilize this potential. Departing from the common wisdom that homodyning requires balanced detection, the authors simultaneously measure 18 teeth of an 11-dB squeezing frequency comb on an unbalanced photodetector, over a multigigahertz bandwidth. This approach demonstrates that it is worth questioning the necessity of balanced homodyne detection in high-speed quantum optics.

While spin transport plays an important role in fundamental physics as well as spintronics applications, the spin-flip tunneling process associated with magnon transport remains elusive in ultracold Fermi gases. This study propose a method for detecting spin-flip tunneling via the Fano factor, which is defined as the noise-to-current ratio and is proportional to the effective charge of carriers. The authors show that the tunneling channel can be altered by tuning either the interaction strength or the potential barrier. This result could strongly impact the study of spin-transport phenomena, and our understanding of quantum transport in strongly interacting systems.
