First measurement of the cross-correlation of CMB lensing and galaxy lensing

Nick Hand et al.

Phys. Rev. D 91, 062001 (2015) - Published 2 March, 2015

The authors measure for the first time the cross-correlation between CMB lensing and galaxy lensing. This provides a robust test of the ΛCDM model on the largest cosmic scales, and offers powerful constraints on the evolution and nature of dark energy, the amplitude of matter fluctuations, and the sum of neutrino masses.

Spectral properties of the post-merger gravitational-wave signal from binary neutron stars

Kentaro Takami, Luciano Rezzolla, and Luca Baiotti

Phys. Rev. D 91, 064001 (2015) - Published 2 March, 2015

Can gravitational waves from merging neutron star binaries be used to determine characteristics of neutron stars? Extensive numerical relativity simulations reported here show that these signals can be used to set constraints on the equation of state and other features of merging neutron stars.

Axion dark matter from topological defects

Masahiro Kawasaki, Ken’ichi Saikawa, and Toyokazu Sekiguchi

Phys. Rev. D 91, 065014 (2015) - Published 12 March, 2015

The authors study the cold dark matter axion production in the decay of string-domain wall systems for a scenario where the Peccei-Quinn symmetry remains broken after inflation. Using the most advanced simulations to date, severe constraints for the model parameters (axion mass, decay constant, etc.) are determined, which potentially can be probed in the future experiments.

Phys.
