Abstract

We demonstrate, by rigorously constructing the Kerr-Newman metric with the aid of Sibgatullin’s method, that the hyperextreme branch of this metric in the positive mass case does not develop a naked ring singularity, and the regions of causality violation are absent in it when its parameters verify a simple inequality m4+a2(3m2−q2)>0. Our results suggest that a physically meaningful “no horizon” gravitational collapse might be possible, which seems to make the cosmic censorship conjecture empty.
