Abstract
The transfer of information from one part of a quantum system to another is fundamental to the understanding and design of quantum information processing devices. In the realm of discrete systems such as spin chains, inhomogeneous networks have been engineered that allow for the perfect transfer of qubits from one end to the other. Here, by contrast, we investigate the perfect transfer of information in continuous systems, phrased in terms of wave propagation. A remarkable difference is found between systems that possess conformal invariance and those that do not. Systems in the first class enjoy perfect wave transfer (PWT), explicitly shown for one-particle excitations and anticipated in general. In the second class, those that exhibit PWT are characterized as solutions to an inverse spectral problem. As a concrete example, we demonstrate how to formulate and solve this problem for a prototypical class of bosonic theories, showing the importance of conformal invariance for these theories to enjoy PWT. Using bosonization, our continuum results extend to theories with interactions, broadening the scope of perfect information transfer to more general quantum systems.

Part A gives details for two-point correlations in inhomogeneous CFT with open BCs. Part B describes how to diagonalize general inhomogeneous TLLs using SL theory, leading to the formulation of PWT as an inverse SL problem, including extension to “massive” TLLs and consequences inferred from Weyl’s law and the Bohr-Sommerfeld/WKB quantization condition. Part C contains details on correlations in inhomogeneous TLLs.

This implies zero particle flow at since the two fermion densities are equal at each boundary and the current is .
Equation (3) corresponds to the low-energy linearization of the spin-chain dispersion relation around its Fermi points , followed by recentering the resulting fields so that they respectively describe right- and left-moving excitations around zero momentum.
Full PWT, as defined in Eq. (1), corresponds to Eq. (6) holding for all states in the Fock space with being their respective reflections.
Oppositely, the limiting case of an inhomogeneous CFT given by Möbius transformations so that vanishes at cannot exhibit PWT since diverges.

This applies to regular systems, to ensure that the Neumann BCs remain simple. If irregular, say, and/or vanishing at , this is irrelevant as the BCs are different and no longer couple right and left movers.
