    Abstract

The most recent β-decay data for Eu156 is over 40 years old, and the γ-ray intensities are only known with a fractional precision of about 10% or worse. In this work, we present new results for the absolute intensities of more than 60 γ rays emitted following the β decay of Eu156 with many measured to ≲1% accuracy, representing an order-of-magnitude improvement in precision. This was achieved by leveraging the fission-product beams produced at the CARIBU facility to create radio-pure samples and detecting the radiation with a 4πβ-particle counter coupled with a precisely efficiency-calibrated HPGe detector at Texas A and M University.
