Abstract
The excitation energy difference between terminating states based on the and configurations has been studied within the cranked relativistic mean field framework. The discrepancy between the experimental data and the theoretical predictions is found to decrease systematically with increasing asymmetry, indicating an improved description of neutron-rich nuclei. By constraining the relevant shell gap and refitting the relativistic mean field parameter set, a new parametrization is obtained that significantly improves the description of single-particle energies near the shell gap without compromising the reproduction of bulk nuclear properties.
