Abstract

The α-decay spectroscopy of Md247 was investigated via the fusion-evaporation reaction Bi209(Ar40,2n)Md247 by means of α-, γ-, and electron-coincidence measurements. While measuring the previously known α-decay properties, a new isomeric state in Es243, the daughter nucleus of Md247, with a half-life of 5.0(5)µs was observed. Based on the suggested decay scheme of Md247, the new isomer in Es243 was assigned as the 7/2+[633] Nilsson level, which is the first observation of an isomer in Z=99 Es isotopes. The single-particle structure around the Z=100 deformed shell gap was discussed.
