Abstract

High-spin states in the neutron-deficient nucleus Pm7061131 have been investigated using the Jurogam 3 γ-ray spectrometer. This is the lightest promethium isotope with known excited states. The proton intruder h11/2 rotational structure has been extended to both higher and lower spin, and its unfavored-signature partner identified. This rotational structure is established down to a presumed Iπ=5/2− bandhead of the πh11/2[532]5/2− Nilsson orbital, which is also expected to form the ground state of this deformed nucleus. Systematic comparisons are made with cranked shell-model calculations.
