    Abstract

Under an appropriate scaling the experimental spectra of σE for all heavy-ion fusion excitation functions appear as horizontal curves, located on the y axis at values corresponding to Rg2Wg, where Rg and Wg are fit parameters obtained from the single-Gaussian barrier distribution model. In this presentation, the spectra occupy a narrow Y range, and neighboring fusion systems exhibit parallel curves. Fine structures in the excitation functions are clearly visible, on their respective horizontal curves and separated from each other. The advantages of this new representation are further explored, and the systematic behavior of Rg2Wg and fine structure at high energy are presented, which can be useful for further research and for predicting unmeasured heavy-ion fusion cross sections.
