
APS is pleased to announce that Dr. Stephen Nagler of Oak Ridge National Laboratory has been selected to succeed Dr. Laurens Molenkamp as Lead Editor of Physical Review B. The transition to Dr. Nagler will be effective as of February 1st, 2023.
Stephen E. Nagler received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Toronto. He served two years as a visiting scientist at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, New York, and joined the physics faculty at the University of Florida in 1984. At Oak Ridge, his primary research interests have been quantum magnetism and correlated electron systems. Named ORNL Scientist of the Year in 1998 and fellow of the American Physical Society in 2000, Nagler serves on numerous national and international committees and was a member of the Editorial Board of Physical Review Letters.
Of his selection, Dr. Nagler said: “I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the physics community as the Lead Editor of Physical Review B. The large, international condensed matter physics community continues to push science in exciting new directions and PRB should continue to play a crucial role as the journal of choice for authoritative papers in the field. I look forward to engaging with colleagues to ensure that PRB maintains its high ethical and scientific standards and adapts as necessary to the needs of the community and the evolution of scientific communication in the 21st century.”
