Abstract
Multielectron bubbles are gas-filled cavities in liquid helium containing electrons pinned to their inner surfaces, thus forming a unique curved two-dimensional electron system (2DES). We perform experiments where an externally applied AC electric field is used to induce size and shape oscillations on these bubbles. We have identified the various normal modes and their frequencies, further compared with analytical results. The experimental technique presented here can lead to a quantitative probe of the properties of the curved 2DES.
