Abstract
Recent studies on ferrimagnetic systems have revealed conflicting trends in spin-orbit-torque-related responses near magnetic compensation, as exchange coupling and net magnetization are typically varied simultaneously. Here, we employ a perpendicularly magnetized Pt/Co/IrMn trilayer with interfacial exchange coupling as a model system, where the exchange-bias magnitude and remanent magnetization configuration can be separately varied within a single device by controlling the IrMn antiferromagnetic state. We find that the measured damping-like effective field at low temperature is gradually suppressed with increasing exchange-bias magnitude. In contrast, room-temperature measurements of reduced-remanence states follow the expected averaged-response scaling. This suggests that, in the present exchange-biased Pt/Co/IrMn trilayer, the magnetization configuration alone does not produce an anomalous damping-like effective field response in Co.
