Abstract
The confined-oscillator scaling model gives the stretching frequencies of isolated impurities in alkali halide and silver halide crystals and of molecules sandwiched between satellite impurity cations in terms of (1) the kind of neighbor-ion species, (2) the axial space availability, and (3) the position of neighbor ions relative to the host lattice.
