Abstract
Cloaking for bending waves propagating in thin elastic plates is known to present numerous obstacles to its experimental realization, particularly due to the complexity of the effective medium obtained by coordinate transformation. Here we demonstrate the possibility of cloaking in a unidirectional manner using affine transformations. This class of transformations maps the Kirchhoff-Love plate equation to its anisotropic extension. Unlike most publications in the literature, the resulting cloak is easily manufacturable using composite materials. In addition to numerical demonstrations of the unidirectional cloaking phenomenon, we present here a design method of an effective cloaking device, as well as the experimental validation of the manufactured cloak.
