    Abstract

We report on a muon spin rotation study of the wide band-gap material La2O3. The focus is on the implantation process and the configurations formed at the end of the implantation trajectory. The data are analyzed in the recently developed “doorway model.” First-principles density-functional calculations were performed to identify the different muonium configurations in the lattice and their hyperfine interaction properties. A detailed description of the reaction mechanism at the end of the muon trajectory is given.
