Abstract
We study, both experimentally and theoretically, the impact of various parameters on the characteristics of signals from a two-axis Hanle magnetometer based on the transition illuminated by linearly polarized pump and probe beams. The probe propagates through the cell such that its polarization vector can be switched between the and planes to measure the magnetic field along the and axes, respectively. When the probe polarization is additionally reflected about the pump polarization vector and the two resulting absorption signals are subtracted, dispersion signals centered around zero are obtained. These dispersion signals can be accurately reproduced by the theoretical model, and the information from the experiments and modeling can be used to optimize the magnetometer characteristics.
