Abstract

The surface-sheath nucleation field $H_{c 3}$ in Pb-0.25% Bi alloy, a clean strong-coupling type-I superconductor, has been measured from 1.7°K to near $T_{c}$ (7.2°K). The data allowed a direct determination of the slope ${(\frac{d H_{c 3}}{dT})}_{T_{c}}$ which, along with the temperature dependence of $H_{c 3}$ near $T_{c}$ , is compared with results predicted by recent theories
