Calorimetric investigations of scaling behavior in aluminosilicate spin glasses

Abstract

Detailed heat-capacity measurements on Co and Mn aluminosilicate spin glasses have been performed in magnetic fields from 0 to 2 T. The decrease in the specific heat in the vicinity of the freezing temperature with the application of a magnetic field is described in terms of a scaling relation with scaling exponents of β=1.1±0.1 and γ=3.5±0.2 for the Co glass, and β=1.1±0.1 and γ=3.8±0.2 for the Mn glass. These values are in good agreement with values determined from magnetization and susceptibility studies.
