Abstract

Many-body perturbation theory is used to calculate the total photodetachment cross section of $O^{-}$ from threshold to 1.1 keV. This nonrelativistic calculation uses the velocity form of the dipole approximation. We include the effects of resonances owing to $2 s \to 2 p$ and $1 s \to 2 p$ excitations. Comparison is made with experiment and other theoretical treatments.
