    Abstract

The wave equations of Proca for a vector mesotron (spin 1) are specialized first to the case in which there is no magnetic field, and then to that in which the field is central. The wave functions satisfy fourth-order homogeneous differential equations. For the states l=j±1, it is simpler to consider two simultaneous second-order differential equations in two unknowns (see Eqs. (19) and (21) of this article). For a coulomb field, the form of the radial functions at r=0 is established as u=exp[−aLr12]rβf, where a=2(zα)12[j(j+1)]14, L2=ℏMc, M = rest mass of mesotron, f is an ascending power series in r, ze is the charge on the coulomb source, α is the fine-structure constant e2ℏc, and β is a constant which can be determined.
