    Abstract

    Polarization-direction measurements have been made on the γ-ray transitions in Pb207 resulting from the decay of Bi207. These measurements were made to obtain additional information on both the spin of the level at 2.34 Mev and the multipole character of the decay γ ray. The observed polarization eliminates the possible spin assignment 92. It is concluded that the spin assignment is 72 and that the 1.77-Mev γ ray is predominantly M1.
