Physicists can provide very powerful experimental, computational, and theoretical tools for biologists to use in addressing biological questions in biological systems. However, physicists have growing interest in answering physical questions about these systems. The extraordinary complexity of living systems provides ample material for such studies, with particular success stories, for example, in understanding the collective and emergent properties of strongly interacting, non-equilibrium, biological units such as bird flocks, bacteria suspensions, or cell colonies. This workshop aims to bring together researchers working on such problems to discuss the long-term entanglement between physics and biology, focussing on how research on biological systems can be driven by physical questions. Editors from the Physical Review journals will participate to assess editorial needs and challenges in this research direction.
