Celebrating 50 years of Physical Review A - D
The year 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of Physical Review A–D as separate journals that emerged out of the stem journal The Physical Review (est. 1893) in response to increasingly more diverse and specialized physics content. Adding to the already existing Reviews of Modern Physics and Physical Review Letters, in 1970 the American Physical Society launched:
- Physical Review A covering atomic, molecular, and optical physics and, later, quantum information;
- Physical Review B covering condensed matter and materials physics;
- Physical Review C covering nuclear physics;
- Physical Review D covering particles, fields, gravitation, and cosmology.
Since then, the Physical Review family of journals has grown further in response to the needs of the global physics community, first in 1993 by founding Physical Review E (statistical, nonlinear, biological, and soft matter physics), and then on to fifteen journals.
These celebrated journals have a rich legacy of publishing a range of seminal studies, many of which have been recognized with Nobel and other notable prizes. To commemorate the 50th anniversary, APS is offering a discount on article publication charges (APCs) for selected journals, and the Physical Review editors have created a collection of milestone papers for each journal. New articles will be added to these collections throughout the year.
50 for 50 APC Discount
To celebrate 50 years of enduring discoveries in Physical Review A, B, C, and D, APS is offering 50% off article publication charges (APCs) for any manuscript, submitted during 2020, published in Physical Review Letters, Physical Review A-E, Physical Review Applied, Physical Review Fluids, and Physical Review Materials. In addition, APCs will be waived for Physical Review Research for any manuscript submitted by June 30, 2020, and will be discounted 50% between July 1 and December 31, 2020. Learn more »
