Optical pulling and pushing are demonstrated by supercontinuum light incident on a hexagonal gold plate (top, left) of area about 80 μm2 held on a tapered fiber in air. The time sequence of the photos runs from left to right across the top, then from left to right across the bottom. Selected for Focus in Physics and for an Editors’ Suggestion.
