Effect of Interface Mobility on Heat Transfer from Solid He4 to He3 Quasiparticles in He3-He4 Mixtures

Abstract

We propose a novel mechanism for Kapitza conductance between phonons in solid He4 and He3 quasiparticles in dilute He3-He4 liquid mixtures. This conductance is large only when the interface between the liquid and solid is rough. We have measured this conductance using a dynamical method, and have obtained results in agreement with the theory.
