Proton Orbital ½- [521] and the Stability of Superheavy Elements

Abstract

We present experimental evidence for the identification of the deformed proton orbital ½-- [521] in Es251 and Bk247. The implications of this finding with respect to the stability of superheavy elements in the vicinity of Z114 are discussed.
