Improved limit to the diffuse flux of ultrahigh energy neutrinos from the Pierre Auger Observatory

A. Aab et al. (Pierre Auger Collaboration)

Phys. Rev. D 91, 092008 (2015) - Published 26 May, 2015

The Pierre Auger Collaboration reports on its search for ultra high energy (UHE) neutrinos in the EeV range, three orders of magnitude above the highest energy neutrino events reported by IceCube. Analyzing over 9 years of data, the collaboration found no events, setting the strictest limits to date on the diffuse flux of UHE neutrinos.

André H. Hoang, Daniel W. Kolodrubetz, Vicent Mateu, and Iain W. Stewart

Phys. Rev. D 91, 094017 (2015) - Published 15 May, 2015

The authors compute event shapes, focusing in particular on the C-parameter distribution, in electron-positron collisions at next-to-next-to-next-to leading order using Soft Collinear Effective Theory. Such higher loop calculations of event shape variables are essential to continuing progress in determining the strong coupling constant.
