Calculation of the (Δ-h, p-h) Landau parameter gΔ from a many-body Hamiltonian including π and Δ degrees of freedom

Abstract

The (Δ-h, p-h) Landau parameter gΔ has been calculated in the reaction matrix theory using a model Hamiltonian for π, N, and Δ. The main feature of the calculation is that the chosen NN→NΔ transition potential is consistent with the NN scattering data up to the energy region where NN→NΔ→πNN pion production can take place. Our result, gΔ=0.36, agrees qualitatively with a previous calculation based on the meson-exchange potential and simple hard-core correlations.
